Commonly asked questions:
Question: What does the series mean on your products page?
Answer: 1375, 1500 and Quest series, define the type of clamping provided, either by size or for a special shaft such as the Ultrex Quest trolling motor, see below for more info on the series, Most will need a 1375 series unless you have a special circumstance or exact fit requirement such as a quest trolling motor.
1375 series mounts (most common): They cover a clamping range of 1-1/8" (1.125") to 1-3/8" (1.375") pole diameter/shaft size. This is the most commonly used series. The Dominator "TM" mounts inside this series are compatible with most trolling motors including the Minn Kota Ultrex (original, NOT Quest), Fortrex, Garmin Force, Lowrance Ghost, Motorguide Tour, and Power Pole Move. "TM" mounts can also be used on stand-alone pole systems up to 1-3/8" diameter. They are not compatible with the Minn Kota Quest (see Quest specific collection), Powerdrive, Ulterra, Terrova, or Motorguide XI models. (some of these motors have a sliding shaft that prevents you from mounting anything to it, you have to use a separate pole or stanchion)
Basic zero-degree mounts will not work on trolling motors because there is no offset spacing to clear the motor foot. Use a Dominator "TM" mount, or the trolling motor shaft mounts.
Remember, when in doubt, a "TM" Dominator package will work in all applications because of its modular design and comes with everything you need, The Dominator packages without a "TM" in the part number do not offer as much offset and are better suited to stand alone pole systems, and at a lower cost.
1500 series mounts (not common): Are specifically designed to clamp on stand-alone pole systems that have a pole diameter of 1-1/2" (1.500"). They are not intended to be used on any trolling motors and are not bundled with our F.0. link spacers. Common systems include Fishing Specialties and Traxtech pole systems that have 1-1/2" poles.
Quest Series mounts: Are specific only to the Minn Kota Ultrex Quest trolling motor and will not fit any other. These trolling motors have a flatted shaft that requires Quest format clamping.
Question: What mount provides all three views? I want the one that does forward, down, and perspective/scout mode?
Answer: The Dominator mount provides all three views without the need to loosen anything or use any tools. It is your best choice for all applications.
Question: I see different Dominator models... so what is the difference?
Answer: The difference is whether or not we include an F.O. Link spacer block offset adapter. Products with a -TM- or a -QSTLNK- in the part number will include this spacer. This spacer is not needed on stand-alone pole system. There is a "TM" standard zero-degree package, and a "TM" Quick Release package, both can be used on either a trolling motor or stand-alone pole system and include the F.O. Link spacer, although the spacer provides no benefit on a stand-alone pole because offset is not needed (no motor housing to look around). The other dominator packages do not include the F.O. link spacer because they are intended to be used on stand-alone pole systems and provide the buyer a cost savings.
Question: I changed to a Quest Trolling Motor, do i have to buy a whole new Dominator Mount?
Answer: No! You can purchase a Quest Dominator hub and cap assembly and swap it out at any time.
Question: What is a quick release model and why would i need it?
Answer: The quick release models allow for the removal of the transducer from the mount itself. They are great for portable builds, moving the transducer to multiple mounting locations, cover issues, heavy grass fishing, theft, or any other reason to remove the transducer from its docking point. They are a simple straight tongue and groove connection with a stainless-steel wire over pin for quick removal. The "quick release" term has no bearing on the function of the mount.
Question: What is an F.O. link spacer block?
Answer: An F.O. link spacer block is used to offset your mount or transducer further from centerline. A "zero" degree mount will align your transducer completely vertical. This will result in the beam spreading evenly to both sides of the transducer. When a "zero degree" mount is installed on a trolling motor shaft, the higher up you install it, the further from center it will need to be to avoid interference from the motor foot. (this pertains to forward and down mode only) "TM" packages come with one F.O. Link spacer, but there are options to add more F.O. Link spacers for special situations where more offset may be needed and are shown separately if need in the F.O.Link collection for special builds.
Question: I don't need a quick release model, so what is the difference between for example a PART NUMBER: TMA-LVS34-DOM-TM-ZPKG and a PART NUMBER: TMA-LVS34-DOM-1375-ZPKG?
Answer: The difference is whether or not we include an F.O. Link spacer block offset adapter. Products with a -TM- or a -QSTLNK- in the part number will include this spacer and provide the most offset and flexibility and will cover all applications. This spacer is not needed on a stand-alone pole system.
Question: Hey, I'm switching systems and the transducers are different, do i have to buy a whole new dominator package?
Answer: No! You can simply buy a transducer coupling for the new system that you are running, by picking a coupling related to your new system from any of the related 1375 series collections. An example would be upgrading from lvs32 to lvs34, you would simply go to the 1375 lvs34 collection and buy a TMA-LVS34-001 lvs 34 coupling. It comes with all of the hardware to mount the new transducer on your existing dominator. The same is true if you wanted to go to a quick release later, you could buy the necessary components from the website.
